V4 for Youth Capacity Building in Tavush region on engagement in self-governance

“Free Citizen” Civic Initiatives Support Center is continuing the implementation of the project “V4 for Youth engagement in self-governance”.

On 22 September 2019 “Free Citizen” CISC organized a workshop for the local youth in the framework of the Project in the city of Dilijan, Tavush region of Armenia, Community Center of Dilijan.  This is the second of the 17 workshops, which are planned to organize in Armenia in the framework of the Project “V4 for Youth engagement in self-governance”. The workshops are dedicated to strengthening young civic activists on engagement with local self-governance as well as raising awareness among participants on the European Union, Council of Europe, Eastern Partnership, and Visegrad 4 format.

22 young civic activists from all over the Tavush region participated in the workshop. Also the representative from the partner organization

During the workshop it was also discussed the following issues, which have been identified by the participants as more relevant for the Youth of their region:

  • Unemployment, including among the Youth;
  • Low level of youth capacities in local self-governance;
  • Lack of awareness of citizens about funding and technical opportunities on the local level, ignorance of local people about problems and political processes of their city and region;
  • Local economic issues in the context of European integration.
